Church Hill Theatre production

Desire Under The Elms
Feb 25 - Mar 13

by Eugene O'Neill
directed by Bonnie Hill

Master American playwright Eugene O’Neill conceived the story as he slept one night, giving it the emotional pitch of a fevered dream.
After abandoning his farm to his three quarrelsome sons, Ephraim Cabot returns to his remote New England farmhouse with his third wife —young, alluring, headstrong Abbie. Their arrival ignites a bitter family feud over the land, while Ephraim’s youngest son Eben covets both the farm and Abbie for himself. The resulting tempest swells to perilous proportions.

Scottish music at the Mainstay

Archie Fisher Scottish Singer and Songwriter at the Mainstay, Rockhall

Sunday, February 6, 2011
4:00pm, $15
A Scottish singer, songwriter and master guitarist, Archie Fisher is Scotland’s foremost troubadour.
His songs have been recorded by such folk luminaries as Fairport Convention, the Clancy Brothers, Sheena Wellington, Eva Cassidy, and John Renbourn, and he was well known throughout Scotland as the host of BBC Radio Scotland’s award-winning “Traveling Folk” show for more than 25 years.
He has been recognized for his contributions to Scottish folk music since the 60s: most recently, he was inducted into the Scots Traditional Music Hall of Fame and was awarded an MBE (Member of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth. His songs seem to come from deep within the lives of others. They evoke the wild rough beauty of Scotland and are so timeless and authentic that many assume the songs are traditional. His new recording, “Windward Away” on Red House has achieved widespread acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. www.mainstayrockhall.org
