Refreshing renditions of cool jazz standards

Gretchen Richie

Thursday, July 14, 8pm

The Avalon Theatre, Easton

If you're looking for a way to beat the summer heat, then plan to catch Gretchen Richie's refreshing renditions of cool jazz standards in the Stoltz Listening Room.
The Stoltz's intimate 60-seat setting is the perfect venue for Richie's engaging stage presence and smooth vocal stylings. One reviewer describes her easygoing rapport with audiences as giving "listeners the feeling she is siging to them and them alone."
Although by definition not a pure jazz singer (no scatting or be-bop), nor a cabaret singer (no feather boas or clever ditties), "jazz cabaret" aptly captures her versatile repertoire of classic jazz standards, bossa nova, pop, folk, and Broadway tunes.
Local drummer Fred Suss of Stubby Knuckles fame will sit in with Gretchen's band.
